The value of a dollar....
Growing up my family was always about middle class, that's where most of Americans are. We never owned a big fancy house, or even a house. We lived in a nice mobile home that was on an acre or two of land. My mother always kept a very clean house while keeping a full time job and taking care of my brother and I. My father was a very hard working man who busted his butt to give us what we needed and wanted. He would work tons of overtime and sometimes even take up a second job. Sometimes it was to make ends meet and sometimes it was to just give us those clothes or items that we just had to have. I say my parents were hard working but actually they are still hard working people. My parents always tried their hardest to teach us the value of a dollar.
I never realized how hard it was to pay bills and still give your family what they need and want. Now that I am grown I wish I had tons of money to buy my parents everything they deserve. My mom that big house that all her grand kids can run around in. My dad every single tool you could ever ask for and then some.I know those things are not important to them but it's just something I wish I could do.
Looking back I feel like I was so selfish to not give a damn if my parents had the money or not for the things I wanted. I know they just wanted to give me the best because I feel the same about my kids. That private school that Mikey just HAS to go to, or that outfit that Breyana just has to have. We give to our kids unselfishly and put us on the back burner. Mike and I both know how it is to struggle and want and sometimes not get. I feel like because of this we have learned the value of a dollar. We are far from being rich we are just another middle class family trying to make it, and trying to teach our kids the value of a dollar.

I found your blog through Lauren's and I am happy you were able to get back to blogging. It sounds like you and I grew up alike. The value of the dollar is a hard lesson to teach, but so well worth it, right?
