VERY funny story....

I can't believe I have not shared this yet. It dates back to Christmas eve night, we are all at my mother in laws opening gifts. I look over at my brother in law (who I will remain nameless due to embarrassment) and he is opening our card. We decided to give him two lottery tickets we thought maybe he'd have some luck. He scratches them and GUESS WHAT?!?! HE WON $10,000 dollars! My other brother in law Rene and my father in law are so happy for him, I mean jumping up in down and yelling happy. I think he is a little bit in shock because he just keeps starring at the lottery ticket. OH BUT WAIT THE FUNNY PART IS... IT WAS A FAKE LOTTERY TICKET!!! Finally after I think Rene and my father in law are going to pass out I tell him to read the back. He look down a little sad and yes I felt a little bad.

Only for a while though because come on, it's funny to make someone think they won $10,000. So there is my funniest moment in 2008.

Are you ready for 2009?!?!

It's hard to believe another year is wrapping up and soon a new one starts. This year has been one heck of a year for all of us as far as our economy goes. Unfortunately this is one of those things that will follow us into 2009.

As far as my personal life goes 2008 was a pretty good year and I am looking forward to another wonderful year with my family. My kids are healthy,we have a roof over our heads, food to eat and Mike has his job. What more can you ask for???

Of course I will make unrealistic New Years resolutions in hopes that this year I can actually follow through with them. For example maybe this time I can actually shred that baby weight, I have only been carrying it for 3 years.

I really just hope for a better year than this year and if that is possible then WONDERFUL!

Every New Years I get overwhelmed with emotions and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I am so happy and grateful we have all made it another year. Of course I have had my hard times this year but nothing compared to what some have had to overcome. There were many foreclosures and job losses. I hope the new year brings tons of blessings for all who had to go through these struggles.

So here is to a better year!

Merry Christmas

I know it's going to be hard to update the next couple of days but, I wanted to wish all my blogger friends a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! On Christmas eve we go to my mother in laws and celebrate with all Mike's family. This is always cozy and peaceful. Then on Christmas morning we do Christmas with the kids, which is always WONDERFUL. I love to see their little faces light up when they open that gift that they really really wanted. After this we go to my parents house. This is fun and can be a bit crazy at times. We are excited because my uncle flew in from WI so we get to have him here this Christmas! I am very much looking forward to the family time, I love to spend time with family and feel it's very important for my kids.

So to your family from mine Merry Christmas, and let's not forget the meaning of it all.

Santa

I really want my kids to believe in Santa in a way I still do. I know Breyana believes whole hearted but I think Mikey is starting to have a little bit of doubt. Is that possible he is only five, he still has more time before this. He has not told me anything yet, but he has this weird look on his face when we talk about him. You can hear his brain turning trying to wrap around the possibility of it all. Yesterday we went to pay Santa a visit and he went sat on his lap and told him what he wanted. He was a little upset because Santa did not give him a chance to name everything on his list. Breyana was scared and she would not even tell Santa what she wanted from 10 feet away. I just thought Mikey would be more excited but he was just kind of like "WHATEVER" I saw Santa big deal. I guess I will have to just wait and see where this goes.

So proud....

Last night Mikey was in the Holiday Stroll (Christmas Parade in our town) and I was so proud. It was one of those "that's my son moments". On top of that he won 2nd place for his fire prevention poster. He gets to go eat lunch with the fire fighters, how cool is that?!?! I am so proud of my little man, I love to see his face light up. He gets so excited and that smile shows you just how happy he is. Every single time I see that smile my heart melts, I just want to scoop him up and never let go. I hope he continues to do such a wonderful job. Ok my brag is over!

My Grandma....

I try really hard not to come on here and tell a whole lot about my family life. I don't mean my immediate family I mean my extended family. Reason I do that is because I think if I see it in writing it might confirm my family really is dysfunctional.

My Grandma has to be the strongest yet most stubborn woman I know. She speaks her mind even if she knows it is going to hurt you. She has a really bad mouth like she can drop the F bomb at church and think nothing of it. It all boils down to either you like her or you don't there is no in between with her. My Grandma had a hard upbringing and so did my mom and her brothers and sisters. All together my grandma has had a hard life.

Growing up we were close to my Grandma she was always there for us and never turned us away EVER. She might not have been the best mother to my mom but she was a wonderful Grandma. She has been a little ill lately and they are waiting to do an MRI of the heart, she has already refused any heart surgery, so even if it's fixable they won't be able to fix her upon her request. I have honestly always thought that my Grandma would out live us all, I have never gave her death a thought. Even when she had breast cancer I knew she would beat it, and she did.

I'm a little scared this time because I really love my Grandma, I love the good and the bad. Last night when I told her bye I held her a little tighter and bawled my eyes out like a little girl, she was comforting me and I should of been comforting her. Even if my Grandma has a hard kind of love I'll take it. She is the most fun person to be around, even if you get a little embarrassed sometimes.

I just wanted to tell about her and ask for prayers, I just want her MRI of the heart to come out clear.

A time to give Thanks.....

Although we should do this all the time, the holidays seem to bring it out a little more. I have so many things to be thankful for my kids, my husband, my family and my friends and all of our health. I know right now people are down in the dumps with the whole economy thing and I understand, but we have to stop and think of the most important things. Things like our health and happiness, our family and our true friends. It's so hard to take our mind off the "worldly" things but it is possible. I challenge you to stop and just take in what you have NOW and be grateful because there are so many people out there who would love to have the things you have. I hope you all have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving, GOD BLESS!!!

The crazy camping trip.....

So this last weekend we decided to take Mikey and Bre camping for the weekend. We drove about an hour and a half to a place thinking it would be empty, only to find out they were full. Called some other places close by and they were full so we ended up driving 3 hours to a state park. Mikey was way too excited for us to just turn around and go home and we both figured he needed this. So we get to the state park set up and the kids and us are starving. We had already planned on having chili dogs but guess what we forgot the stove. Oh and even if we wanted to cook chili dogs we couldn't because I forgot the buns.It was just one thing after the other I mean seriously can't anything just be easy for us?!?!?! I had three cans of vegetable soup so we heated that up over a fire that took FOREVER to start. We ate and let the kids run free, after all that crap it was so worth it to just to see Mikey and Bre having fun. As I sat there and watched I thought, here we are stressing and they could care less, we should all care less sometimes! That night we watched the beautiful lit sky and were Lucky enough to catch some shooting stars. Our camping trip started out crazy but it ended GREAT!!! EXCEPT for one thing my car smells like mesquite and I have no idea what to do.
Will share pictures later.

He did it....

We witnessed history last night and it was wonderful. I hope this country pulls together this is what will make us stronger. I am so excited to have Obama as our president and really feel change is coming. I am sadden that his grandmother was unable to share the moment with him, there is no doubt she was looking down with a smile! So here is to change and to a wonderful 4 years. Everyone remember prayer is key so please pray for our President and country.

I Voted....

This is my first time voting so it was really special to me. I am so glad I have the right to vote. I think this year everyone is so passionate about this election. I hope everyone goes out and votes especially the women, lets vote for all the women who never had the chance to. I even took Bre with me, although she was more happy about getting my I VOTED sticker I hope she remembers it. I just want to encourage everyone to go out and vote, this is what gives us our voice!

We met the Cheetah Girls!

We went to San Antonio this morning to be in the audience for a local news station, my cousin Steph was nice enough to invite us. We were going to see the Cheetah Girls and we were all so happy!!! As we were waiting in the waiting room to be called back to be seated in walks the Cheetah Girls!!! Oh our girls just about passed out they were so happy. The best part was the Cheetah girls actually came over and talk to our girls, it was just awesome. They were so sweet to the kids and they took pictures and signed autographs and were just so NICE! I have to say even us moms were pretty star struck. I am so thankful the girls got the opportunity and very grateful to the Cheetah Girls they really made our girls day. All three of them were very beautiful and even though they may not remember our girls out of the tens of thousands they meet but our girls will always remember this day! So thank you to the Cheetah Girls I will be forever grateful for what you did for our girls today.

Cheetah Girls!

Something so little means so much to her.....

Now that Mikey is at school all day, when Mike is working it is just me and Bre. I feel like this is our time to bond, we all know bond means shop!!! For lunch we like to go to Quiznos and pick up a sub and broccoli cheese soup. We come home lay a towel out on my bed eat and watch divorce court. lol

This is our thing and I never knew it until she started to request it more and more. Something that little means so much to her, she tells me she likes to do that with me. Little does she know I like it even more, I love to spend time with her and talk to her. I love the company of my three year old daughter. So from now on I will make sure we make a trip to Quiznos as often as we can because that is "our" time and we both enjoy it.

Depressing....

Some ladies from my mommy board are doing a little weight loss contest. I think this is a great way to motivate us mom's. After posting my now picture I really can't believe I let myself go so much. Yes, I have had two kids but I know that is just an excuse. I found a picture of me from 2002, it was taken in New Mexico over spring break. You can't even recognize me in the picture, it's so hard to believe I once looked like that. I don't want to be so out of shape anymore I wanna look good but most important I want to feel good about myself. So I am going to print this picture out and pin it on my mirror as motivation. I don't want to keep putting myself last and I don't want to look like this anymore. I'm done with the excuses and I'm done with feeling so insecure. I know this is something only I can change, so here I go wish me luck!

Here is my motivation picture:

Always looking forward....

I remember Mikey as a newborn and I remember cradling him in my arms, sometimes while he nursed or sometimes just to cuddle. I remember always looking forward to the next step for him. Once he reached the next step like eating solids I would then look forward to the next step. After doing this with every milestone Breyana came along and I did the same thing. As much as I don't want my kids to grow up I always look forward to the next step, the next milestone for them.

Last night was bittersweet for me and it really took me back. Mikey went to sleep in bed with his dad and I stayed in bed with Bre. She looked over at me and said "mommy can I sleep on you", I put my arm out so she could lay on it but that was not what she wanted. She sat up and threw her body on mine and put her arms around me. As a lay there holding her it reminded me of all those restless nights with her. As a baby I use to lay her on top of me and she would calm down and drift off to sleep. Last night she did the same thing, it only took her minutes and she was out. As a listed to her little body take each breath I thought to myself, when they were younger I always looked forward but it seems these days all I want to do is go backwards and start all over. I want to cradle my kids again, I want to hear that baby talk one more time. I want to see that expression on their little faces after they had just figured something out. I miss that, I miss their smell their little toothless smiles.

I know I can't to back only in memory so for now I will enjoy these milestones and not always look forward to the next. I know in about 5 years I am going to want to go back to now.

The bad mom award goes to.......

ME! I feel so bad my poor son has been crossing his eye for a while now and I kept getting after him. He likes to cross both eyes to be funny but for a year now I had noticed he was just crossing one. It was usually when he was doing school work or playing with his toys up close. Since he has started Kinder all his work has been really messy and it that is not Mikey. Finally I used my brain and figured he might be far sided. Made him an appointment with a pediatric optometrist only to find out I was right. My little Mikey needed glasses he is far sided after all.

He was a little upset at first. he kept telling us everyone was going to think he looks like an idiot. We kept reassuring him that all would be fine and no one was going to call him an idiot. He wore them to school for the first time yesterday and everyone loved them, he was so happy. All of his school work looked nice and neat, he is now ready to give Kinder his best!

So I feel like such a bad mom for letting this go for so long, I think after a couple of toys he will forgive me. ;)

My little man in his new glasses!
